In der Schweiz garantiert das Urheberrechtsgesetz (URG) den Schutz literarischer, kunstlerischer, musikalischer und Software-Werke ab dem Moment der Schopfung, ohne dass eine Registrierung erforderlich ist. Dieses Prinzip ist auch in der Berner Ubereinkunit (181 Mitgliedstaaten) verankert, der die Schweiz angehort: Ihre Rechte entstehen mit dem schopferischen Akt. In der Praxis reicht dieser automatische Schutz jedoch nicht aus. Das Gesetz erkennt Ihr Recht an, schafft aber nicht von sich aus den Nachweis des Erstellungszeitpunkts, der genauen Form oder Ihrer Identitat als Urheber.
