What tends to slip once the initial deadline passes
The pattern is a familiar one: activity spikes ahead of a known deadline, then tapers once the deadline is behind everyone. Labelling gets applied carefully to the first batch of content produced right around a deadline, then gets less consistent as the immediate pressure fades and new content keeps being produced at the same pace it always was.
The obligation to disclose AI-generated or AI-manipulated content as such doesn't have a sunset clause tied to how recently the law took effect. Content made in September needs the same honest, checkable declaration as content made on August 2nd.
A practical check worth doing now
Rather than waiting for the next externally imposed deadline, it's worth using September to audit what's actually been happening since August 2nd: is every piece of AI-assisted or AI-generated content getting a declaration at the time it's made, or has that slipped into an occasional habit rather than a consistent one? Is sealing happening as content is finalized, or has it become something added later, if at all, once someone remembers?
A declaration made weeks after content was published carries less weight than one made and sealed at the moment of creation, for the same reason a reconstructed account is always weaker than a contemporaneous one. If the habit has drifted since the initial push in early August, September is the natural point to reset it before the gap widens further.
The deadline that matters is the ongoing one
There will likely be further specific dates and enforcement milestones ahead. But the actual obligation, honest and checkable disclosure of how content was made, is already active and doesn't wait for the next calendar entry. Treating September as quieter than August is a scheduling illusion. The work is the same work, every month it isn't done consistently is a month where the gap between policy and evidence widens again.
